In the early 90’s, we were looking for a side hustle to help make ends meet. We started a small bath and body company by the name of Second Nature and made everything from bath salts, lotions, scrubs, sprays and the likes. After only a few short years and without the power of the internet as it is today, the brand grew quite rapidly and before long, had a decent income which definitely helped.
After being promoted and being asked to move to Atlanta Georgia, it was time to let the business go as it was taking a lot of time and efforts sadly, we let the business go to focus on the full time gig. Though this chapter of life ended, the memories and skills were always on the back burner which would be revived decades later.
Deuce Truce LLC actually started out as a bunch of “dad jokes” which I must admit, at times, most of them were pretty bad. With both boys being in school, I would slip a dad joke into their lunch on a sticky note attached to their sandwich so they would be sure to read them. As our educational system currently does not teach cursive writing, I would print the joke, but then wrote a special encouraging message specifically for them in cursive and let them know I loved them very much. When I would pick them up from school or when they arrived at home, I would ask them how lunch was. It ended up being a very good ice breaker, but a way to bring humor into the day, which sometimes had a big impact on how their day actually went.
Side note: My youngest still keeps most every note I have ever left and tells me that someday, he is going to turn them all into a book of “Messages from Dad”. Now if that doesn’t wet your eyes, I don’t know what will. While totally not the intent, it is so true that all things work together for good… and am so blessed to have both in my life.
Well, it goes without saying that a house with the majority being boys always leads to bathroom humor. It’s hard for some to understand the infatuation with ”flatulation”, but is a real thing that makes most people laugh uncontrollably. Yes, I am guilty of crop dusting, blaming on the dog (or cat), and have done the “pull my finger” once or twice while raising them, but look at it as a right of passage in hopes they will someday pay it forward.
We always had something funny to say when we were through “doing our business” but usually followed with an apology or a funny remark during the process. After a while, I started collecting these remarks and quotes I found hilarious. Little did I know, some would become part of the company’s signature lines. Then it hit me… Why not develop something that would help in the “office” and share some of these classic sayings that have been building over the years!
After using many products on the market which seemed to work alright, several were pretty pricey and and nearly all were in plastic bottles. Not that plastic isn’t a viable solution and less expensive to use for many products, but in my former line of work with one of the largest bottled water companies in the world, know quite a bit about the recycling game regards plastic.
Through dedicated time and research to create the most amazing blends and parody lines, it was finally time to get things moving and is what Deuce Truce is all about today. We have meticulously researched a few hundred suppliers and proud proudly fly the MADE IN USA banner! ALL of our products are from US vendors and US suppliers providing us everything we need from bottle to box!
Since the launch of our core product line, we have added several additional scents and parodies to the portfolio specifically to entice a little, humor while at the same time, providing a powerful lineup of products to help you during your “go”.
Note: In an age where it seems as though humor is a fading commodity, we should be free to share things we find funny and laugh out loud. In fact, there is actually scientific evidence proving laughter is extremely healthy! “Laugh uncontrollably and never apologize for something that makes you smile.”
~ Mark Twain
